Texas Adult Drivers Ed

Am I required to do any behind-the-wheel hours?

Nope. As long as you can pass the driving test, that’s all DPS cares!

However, if you need to learn or practice driving before your driving test, we highly recommend using your certificate to get a permit. With your permit, you can legally drive as long as your front passenger is a licensed driver, aged 21 years or older, and has at least 1 year of driving experience. You don’t want to get pulled over by a cop and have no permit to show!

EXTREMELY HIGH SUMMER VOLUMES WITH COVID - Starting in June and expecting to continue through September, we are experiencing extremely high volumes across chats, phones and email. We have limited phone and chat support hours, and are working hard to serve every student with care. Phone wait times can be up to 30 minutes during peak times, and while we respond to every student contact that we receive, we are currently averaging 2-3 business days to respond. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. For all Coronavirus Impact Updates, please click here.
