Texas Adult Drivers Ed

What if I fail my driving test?

If you fail the driving test at the DPS, you are given three attempts to pass within 90 days before a new application fee is charged. You can go back to the DPS as early as the next day to retake the exam.

If you fail the driving test with a driving school, each driving school has a different policy regarding retakes. Some will charge a fee for every attempt. Others will charge a fee if you do not retake your test within a certain amount of time. Contact your driving school to know their policy!

EXTREMELY HIGH SUMMER VOLUMES WITH COVID - Starting in June and expecting to continue through September, we are experiencing extremely high volumes across chats, phones and email. We have limited phone and chat support hours, and are working hard to serve every student with care. Phone wait times can be up to 30 minutes during peak times, and while we respond to every student contact that we receive, we are currently averaging 2-3 business days to respond. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented time. For all Coronavirus Impact Updates, please click here.
