Technically, the state doesn’t want you starting the course before you receive the packet. If you did, however, stop working on the course and take the following steps right away:
- Make sure you have an eligible parent instructor before ordering the PTDE packet.
- Order the PTDE packet ASAP from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
- When you receive the packet, hang on to it for three days.
- After three days, let us know by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org to update your Permit Certificate date. This is done to ensure that the date printed on your Permit Certificate is after the date you received the PTDE packet. Important note: please tell us the date that you received your packet!
