Certificates - Processing, Shipping, Delivery

Applicable to California Drivers Ed, Ohio Drivers Ed, and Texas Defensive Driving

When do you mail certificates? What is the certificate cutoff deadline?

If you’re taking our California course, you must finish the course and pay for your shipping by 12 PM (noon) PST Monday – Friday. We do not process certificates for California on Saturdays.

If you’re taking our Texas Defensive Driving or Ohio Drivers Ed course, you must finish the course and pay for your shipping by 1 PM CST Monday – Friday or 11am CST Saturday.

Same day delivery orders for Austin, Texas must be placed by 11am CST Monday through Saturday. Your certificate will be hand-delivered at the location of your choice within Austin by 3:30pm CST.

If you select shipping after our cutoff deadline, your certificate will be mailed out the next business day. If you miss Friday’s cutoff for California or Saturday’s cutoff for all other states, your certificate will go out on Monday.

If you do not select shipping within a week of your completion date, your certificate will automatically be mailed with standard shipping. You should expect it to arrive within 5-12 business days. If you need your certificate to come in faster, this means you will need to order a new certificate for $10 and pay for expedited shipping.

Can my certificate be emailed or faxed? Can I pick up my certificate?

If you are taking a course which requires that your certificate be mailed, there’s no way we can get around that. We have to follow the state’s requirements for issuing certificates. I know it doesn’t make for the most ideal situation, but those are the rules.

We are required to mail out hard-copy certificates for:

  • California Drivers Ed
  • Ohio Drivers Ed
  • Texas Defensive Driving

Do I need to pay for shipping?

Yes and no!

If you select standard shipping, it comes free with your purchase of the course. The estimated delivery time for standard shipping is 5 to 12 business days. Unfortunately, this does not include tracking information.

If you want your certificate delivered sooner, you will need to pay for expedited shipping at the end of the course. By purchasing expedited shipping, you’ll also get the peace of mind with the added benefit of a tracking number!

Do you offer expedited shipping?

Yes, of course! You can select your shipping option at the end of the course and pay for it. We mail out certificates for California Drivers Ed, Ohio Drivers Ed, and Texas Defensive Driving.

Below are the different shipping options we offer:

TYPE CARRIER DELIVERY TIME* COST

2nd Day Shipping USPS Within 2 business days $35

Saturday Shipping FedEx Saturday by 4:30pm (Friday orders only) $55

*NOTE: The day that we mail out your certificate does NOT count as the first business day. Sunday also does not count as a business day. If you order 3rd day shipping on Monday by 1 PM CST, your certificate will travel on Tuesday and Wednesday to arrive on Thursday when you typically receive mail.

How do I get same day delivery? (Only available for Austin, TX)

This service is only available for delivery within Austin city limits.

Same day delivery orders must be placed by 11 AM CST Monday through Saturday. Your certificate will be hand-delivered at the location of your choice within Austin by 3:30 PM CST

Pricing for Monday through Friday is $35. Saturday orders cost $55.

Since same day orders imply urgency, we strongly discourage placing your order before you finish our course. We will not deliver your certificate if you are not done with the course by 11 AM CST of the day you request delivery.

Does Aceable mail out certificates on holidays?

It depends if USPS and/or FedEx are operating on that holiday.

  • If both USPS and FedEx are closed, no certificates will be mailed out that day.
  • If USPS is open but FedEx is closed, all standard shipping, 3rd day shipping, and 2nd day shipping certificates will go out. Next day shipping orders are processed through FedEx and would go out when FedEx is open again.
  • If FedEx is open but USPS is closed, next day shipping and Saturday shipping orders will go out. All standard shipping, 3rd day shipping, and 2nd day shipping certificates would go out when USPS is open again.

How do I change my shipping selection?

If we haven’t mailed out your certificate yet and you need to upgrade to faster shipping, place your order here by our certificate cutoff time (1 PM Central Time for Texas and Ohio, 12 PM Pacific Time for California). If you’re upgrading from one expedited shipping option to an even faster option, we will refund your initial shipping option.

If you need to downgrade shipping, contact our Customer Experience Heroes so that we can take care of that. You’ll either be given a partial refund or a full refund depending on your downgrade.

There is a mistake or error on my certificate. How do I get a new certificate?

When we print certificates, whatever is printed on there comes from your profile. We print it exactly the way you put it in your profile. We state in your profile and in the course that you must put down your legal information since it will be printed on your certificate. After filling out the profile, you are asked if you’re sure everything is correct before moving on.

If you do not contact us about a mistake in your profile before we print your certificate, unfortunately, you must order a new certificate for $10. If you need expedited shipping, you will need to add that on as well.

If the mistake is actually on our end, contact our Customer Experience Heroes and we’ll mail out a new certificate free of charge!

I lost my certificate. How do I get a new one?

If your certificate has been mailed out, you’ll need to order a new one for $10. You have the option to add on expedited shipping if you want at an extra cost.

We mail out certificates for these courses:

  • California Drivers Ed
  • Ohio Drivers Ed*
  • Texas Defensive Driving

*NOTE: For Ohio students, we mail out two certificates: the Certificate of Enrollment and the Certificate of Completion. Each costs $10. Your total would be $20 if you lost both certificates.

If you are in Texas Parent Taught Drivers EdTexas Instructor Taught Drivers Ed, or Texas Adult Drivers Ed, please check your email for any emails from Aceable. It could be hanging out in your inbox, trash, junk, or spam folders. If you need it sent again, log into your Aceable account where you’ll be able to view your certificate from your home screen (feature not yet available for Texas Instructor Taught students). You can download the certificate from your account. Texas Instructor Taught students will need to contact our Customer Experience Heroes to have the certificate sent to their email again.

If you are an Illinois Adult Drivers Ed student, please check your email for any emails from noreply@ilsos.net (the Secretary of State emails the certificate, not Aceable). If you need it sent again, contact the Secretary of State office at 847-981-7455.

Why hasn't my certificate arrived yet?

This can happen depending on these factors:

  • You finished the course and selected shipping after our certificate cutoff times for the day (your certificate is shipped the following business day instead of the day of).
  • You gave us the wrong address.
  • USPS or FedEx have delivered it to the wrong address (sometimes they sort incorrectly even though the shipping label is correct)
  • USPS or FedEx are experiencing weather delays or delays to a busy holiday season

Our certificate cutoff times are Monday through Friday 1 PM Central Time or 12 PM Pacific time and Saturdays 11 AM Central Time. California certificates do not ship out on Saturdays.

If you selected shipping after our cutoff times, your certificate is not going to be shipped until the next business day.

  • Missing your court deadline? Contact your court ASAP and explain your situation. They tend to be understanding of the situation and may extend your deadline as long as you completed the course by your initial deadline.
  • Missing a DMV appointment? Unfortunately, you will need to reschedule. We’re really sorry about that, but at the same time, you don’t want to go out there and get sent home either.
  • If it is still possible for us to mail a new certificate and have it arrive in time, you will need to order a new certificate and add on any expedited shipping costs to your order.

If you gave us the wrong address, please order a new certificate along with expedited shipping if needed.

If USPS or FedEx have not delivered your order, first try these steps:

  1. Wait until the expected delivery date and time listed on your tracking number. If you picked standard shipping, wait until 12 business days have passed.
  2. If it still hasn’t arrived, check with your neighbors or the front office of your apartment complex if that applies to you.
  3. Still not there? Contact Aceable so we can mail out another certificate free of charge!

Will I get a tracking number?

You’ll receive an email notifying you that your certificate was mailed by 5:30 PM on that day. Certificates sent out using standard shipping don’t come with a tracking number. Certificates sent out using an expedited shipping method will come with a tracking number.

Why does my tracking number not work?

If you click on your tracking number and it’s not working or get a notification saying “Not Found”, this just means that the US Postal Service or FedEx has not scanned the barcode on your envelope yet. But don’t worry – your certificate has been mailed out to you! Your tracking number should work by no later than 9:30pm on the day your certificate is mailed out.
